Rookery, Kangaroo Island, isolated and pristine. Vineyard 35 deg 45 mins South. Warm 1500 heat degree days ( HDD ) Maritime. Cool Summers and warm Winters.
Soils - sandy loam over clay. Limestone parent material.

VINTAGE

The 2004 growing season was a good season for wine grapes on Kangaroo Island. Mild, even temperatures.
The Shiraz fruit was picked on the 30th of March. The bunches were a medium size with lush berries.

Colour; Deep colour with purple hue.
Winemaking; Crush, destem, open ferment - 7 days and Airbag Press to retain all flavours.


TASTING NOTES

Aroma; Ripe, powerful nose with some dark bitumen.
Palate; Rich and concentrated with a good tannin structure.
Assessment; A wine with real power and concentration.
Serve; Serve at room temperature.
Cellaring; The wine is very special to drink now, but will increase in intensity and quality for many years to come.
Availability; Available in both screw cap and cork
Complimented with; Char grilled Porterhouse Steak, Meaty Casserole, Mushroom Crepinettes or aged Cheeses
