Soils - sandy loam over clay. Limestone parent material.

VINTAGE

The 2008 growing season was not accompanied with a lot of rainfall. Small amounts of irrigated water was strategically applied, so that the fruit arrived at harvest with great mouth feel and intense fruit flavours. The fruit was hand picked last week in February, before the record heat wave of 2008.

Winemaking; Crush destem. Open ferment - 7 days and airbag press to retain flavours, new Eastern European Oak.


TASTING NOTES

Aroma; Dark cherry and blackcurrant with some dried currant.
Palate; Soft and full, well balanced acid and fruit to a finish of dried currant and dark Plum.
Assessment; A well balanced wine.
Serve; Try with a hearty red meat dish.
