Kangaroo Island is located 15 kms from the mainland of South Australia. The island’s Mediterranean maritime climate and soil composition are ideal for producing quality cool climate wine. The maritime environment helps grow fruit that is rich and robust with intense aromas and full flavours.
The Rookery Vineyard, planted in 1999 is nestled eight kilometers south of Nepean Bay and ten kilometers north of D’Estrees Bay.
Garry’s family has lived on Kangaroo Island for three generations, farming high quality beef cattle and lambs.
The fruit is all hand selected and picked.
Garry and Gael Lovering have established 3.2ha of cabernet sauvignon and 1.6ha of shiraz, with smaller plantings of sauvignon blanc, tempranillo, saperavi, sangiovese, chardonnay, merlot, petit verdot, riesling and zinfandel.
