The Rookery Vineyard, planted in 1999 is nestled eight kilometres south of Nepean Bay and ten kilometres north of D’Estrees Bay. Rookery’s exceptional fruit quality is attributable to the island’s Mediterranean maritime climate and soil composition ideal for producing quality cool climate wine.
Garry’s family has lived on Kangaroo Island for three generations, farming high quality beef cattle and lambs. Garry and Gael are now also producing their own boutique medal winning wines.The fruit is all hand selected and picked, ensuring that only the best quality fruit reaches the bottle at Rookery Wines.
Garry and Gael Lovering have established 3.2ha of cabernet sauvignon and 1.6ha of shiraz, with smaller plantings of sauvignon blanc, tempranillo, saperavi, sangiovese, chardonnay, merlot, petit verdot, riesling and zinfandel.
